		Paul and I then took a short flight to Tallinn. Tallinn has only around 450,000 inhabitants, but it has been the historical centre of Estonia for centuries and as the capital of a nation (with population just under 1.5 million people), it possesses an exciting cultural depth. Its rich historic context and layers of architecture preserved over the ages provide Tallinn with an exciting backdrop for its activities in the modern world. We were lucky enough to be here for over a week... Paul (left) and I enjoy the atmosphere of a brilliant day at Tallinn's Old Town Square (Raekoja Plats). The Old Town (Vanalinn) is a matrix of streets and lanes. This one, Katarina Käik, has intriguing arches collectively straddling overhead. Handsome churches are scattered throughout the Old Town. Toomkirik sits highest on Toompea in Vanalinn.
