Another of the tasks was to brand all new calves and de-horn and castrate all the new males. Above and below we correl the cattle, aggressively but with a clear respect for their power as one quick kick could snap our chins -- exhilarating but scary.

After they were caught in the yokes, the cattle were branded and castrated. Below Erardo hits the new, growing horns off by hitting his carefully placed dagger with a heavy block of work. Crude it may seem, but it popped off surprisingly cleanly.... to the observer, of course :)

It wasn't all work. With the last dozen or so cattle, Antonio would practice lassoing them. He was probably about 60 years old and damn impressive!
